The Daniel M. Kerrane, Jr. Foundation (DMK) announced today its third annual memorial golf tournament would be held on September 18, 2006 at Harborside International Golf Club in Chicago, IL. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Daniel M. Kerrane, Jr. Foundation's scholarship and mentoring programs.

The four-year-old organization was founded to improve the educational opportunities afforded to Chicago area youths and young adults, and seeks to provide access to higher education for those who may not otherwise be able to attend college. Scholarships and assistance are awarded based on both financial need and scholastic aptitude. DMK has cultivated a strong association with the City Colleges of Chicago, a growing relationship with the Chicago Public Schools, and a continuing partnership with other social service organizations. Now in its second year of issuing scholarships, DMK has awarded financial and educational assistance to 45 students. The foundation also provides an orientation and mentoring program to help each eligible youth navigate through the college application process and beyond.

The golf tournament will feature a shotgun start, 18-hole golf tournament with prizes being awarded for the top 3 finishers. Refreshments will be available to golfers while on the course. The tournament will be followed by a buffet dinner catered by Phil Stefani Signature Restaurant, open bar and a live auction. Auction items include trips to New York, Florida and Colorado etc., as well as sporting event tickets, and, for the first time, Sponsor-a-Scholar packages: auction attendees can bid on scholarships which pay for the costs associated with a scholar completing the two-year DMK program.

Tickets to the event are $300 each and include green and cart fees, buffet-style dinner and open bar. A limited number of tickets to the event are available. The event is expected to sell-out prior to the event date.
